SO I am all about saving money at the pump and romping around with my 7 year old Venom, anyways the problem that i run into is that from my house to work it is all up hill and with full throttle it takes about 15 minutes going all the way up one street... However about a mile from work the scooter over heats and shuts down.. Ive only done this trip once cause i was afraid of hurting the motor. Is there anyway to attach some sort of fan or cooling system.. Im so down to build my own just dont know how to go about it. Ive heard of "go ped" racers put ice cubes in a zip-loc then put it in the tank to cool down the gas. Not sure how much difference that would make.. THANKS FOR THE INPUT. keep ridin

What do you mean it "overheats" and shuts down? You fuel lines are probably bubbling from the heat of something and causing vapor-lock. Check around your fuel ines there not touching anything hot, and make sure you use the correct oil mixture.

HMMM That is a possibility cause one of my fuel lines is touching my hp pipe.. However this has never happened before, only cause i drove the thing so far. Ill try again with the fuel lines moved around so nothing is touching them. Good tip, yeah the motor would run for like 3 or 4 seconds and make stange noise like a dirt bike ping ping PING blub blub blub , engine cuts out.. then i walked for like a mile and it started up but when i went over half speed it cut out again..Dude have you ever ran these motors at top speed up hill for miles at a time,? thanks for your input dont mean to insult anybody here. also one other question, what size is the allen key for the back wheel shaft. to take it off.

Uphill you won't hit topspeed. You will put the most stress on the engine though. You could try giving it a break now and then. You have to remember it's 33cc 1.7 HP two-stroke "weedwacker" engine trying to pull about 230 lBS uphill. Don't push it to hard. But it shouldn't just bog out like that. Only time I've had it happen is when my fuel line melted and caused air to seep in and really leaned it out. Not too sure what your talking about is the last question.

Yea i feel ya. Yo listen to this , i was just changing my rear tire. That was my question but its all good now, umm anyways i took the wheel off and then i was going to change the tranny gear oil and noticed that the bolts were really loose. So i tightened them pretty tight and before i put the wheel on i tried moving the gear and it was like almost locked. So i loosened some bolts a lil bit. is that common? Also i went to kragen and had to special order the splitfire sf2d plug ha i cant wait to get my venom back to tip top shape! thing is pushing almost 8 years old haha. Bro back in the day i was all about goped and had mine all tricked out, then i got a car years back and my youngest brother was riding my goped and some lil mexi's beat him up and stole it, just recently i took my other bros venom and revived it, rebuilt a go ped carb and used it on the venom now im just getting to the finishing touches. Viza should definetly open up shop here in Reno and start selling the venom models again ! i romp this thing everwhere and get so many stares cause noone has ever seen a viza goped before haha

My venom is a 2000 or 2001. The Engine itself ran great its whole life until I got into a nasty wreck with it. I DID have problems with the tranny. Pretty much like your having now. I still dont know what was wrong with it, but it would turn halfway, then lock up, and turn the other direction the other way, and lock up. So, I had to buy a new tranny.
Anyway, after my wreck, my engine wasnt damaged in anyway. But when I started it back up again a month or so later it just wouldnt start. So I got a new carb from DDMracing.com that they said it worked for the venom, but apparently it didnt. It was the GSR 40 carb. So i got another carb, I think it was from Brandon. Is that right brandon? I forget. lol
Anyway, after ALOT of turning I finally got it right. Then I traded engines with Brandon. I now have a Active 40cc.
When I lived in NJ, we had ALOT of hills, and I ran that thing for miles, and never had a problem. I felt my venom went so much faster then it does today and ran stronger.. So weird.
Anyway your motor should run for along time. Make sure your carb settings are correct. Because your problem was happening to me when my carb wasnt tuned correctly. About your tranny, if you have the money, I would get a new one. Keep the gear oil changed annually. If you got the HP pipe, I would run 40:1. thats what i also ran.
About the icecubes. If you read that on gopednation. please DONT believe anything they say. Almost everyone on that site lies and tries to tell you ways to break your scooter.
For younger kids they will say put sugar in your gas tank, it will get you a boost of 5 - 10+ MPH. Or they will say the same about Peeing in your gas tank. They will pretty much tell you lies about anything.
Think about it, if you put ice cubes in your tank, and they melt. thats water in your gas. IF it doesnt ruin your motor, then it will kill your gas mileage bigtime. and that is what your trying to avoid.
I havent rode my scooter since August of 07. So, I need to start doing it again...

I wish I had one to ride. My v2's jackshaft bearing failed. Go-Ped has a flat 9Got tube for it) and no brake or throttle cable.

Brandon. No excuses. You had a 700 dollar EVO2. The best brand scooter at the time, the MOST popular at the time. Everyone WANTED one. And what did you do it to. Just broke the whole d*** thing. the WHOLE thing. haha. When you first told me you bought one, I'm like uh huh. Thought you were kidding me, like we always do, - Joke with each other.
Speaking or that, did you ever get the voice mail of me yelling into the phone that the fire work store was on fire at the state line. haha...

Hey fellas, Yo when i was talking about the ice cubes, you have to first put them in a bag so when they do melt it doesnt melt in your gas. HAH but yea i while back when i was like in 6th grade years ago, i tried to put alchohol in my tank and the only thing i found that was clear in my dads bar was SAMBUCA. So hehe it had so much sugar in it my old goped ran for about half a block then died. So i took the whole engine apart and scraped the burnt sugar off the piston head and cleaned everything in like two hours then it started right back up. Ridiculousness. But anyways my carb on my venom is a goped carb really old but works just as good. And its even better cause theres no adjustments besides the idle screw. And Hey BRANDON i went out and specially ordered the sf2d splitfire and my venom did not like it at all. I gapped it and im positive the piston was hitting the sparkplug and just after a little bit of riding the plug was squished, meaning my perfect gapping at .27 was now at 0 ,no gap. plus if it wasnt tighted down the engine spit it out , it literally kept getting loose because the piston was hitting it. So im not sure but every other sparkplug i have has a metal washer on it and my splitfire plug didnt come with one...is it defective?
Another topic, i tighted all my bolts back on my tranny and not of course its leaking on the front side bottom... Long time ago we put one of those self made gaskets on, the tube with the goo in it. Guess ill have to get some more but im telling you guys my tranny ran for months with no gear fluid in it and nothing is wrong with it!.. however i will get around to fixing it when i get some time. work work work school school school barely anytime to ride. Hey happy easter to everyone on the discussion board hahah which is like 4 people nowadays huh

I've have no problems with SF2D plugs in any engine. You either 1. have a stroker kit,(I doubt it) 2. have a thinner cylinder head gasket, or 3. wrong plug. Make sure it says SF2D. But don't keep running it if it's hitting it. That will severely damage the piston.

Yes, right on the spark plug it says SF2D and yea ur right i didnt advance the timing,,, maybe cause of how old my venom is? umm but
Im about to make a boost bottle. and i was looking at the pics on the boost bottle thread and i just want to make sure that they are 1/8 inch barb by 1/8 inch thread. Cause thats what i bought and im going to have to drill a bigger hole in the manifold then i expected.
Also Whats the best way to go about taking apart the gearbox, is it better to take the whole engine and gearbox off , or take the wheel off and then just take off the half side of the gear box. Cause its hella leaking fluid and i just got some gasket maker goo so its about to get taken all apart.

I never said anything about advancing your timing? And just take the whole engine and gearbox off to work on it.

Yup, i just love how the chain doesnt come off unless you take the gearbox cog off, unbelievable. But yea its almost completely brand new again i just have to let the gasket maker goo cure for 24 hours.
So do you think a boost bottle and a different cog for more top speed will not cut down the acceleration as much.
