I am picking up my first Viza (actually first of any brand of this type) scooter tomorrow and am looking for a user manual/Shop manual in PDF format so that I can strip it down to each nut and bolt if I want to and then rebuild it again. Or change parts for performance upgrades etc... Having the specs of the parts will go a long way towards not buying ones that won't fit or are incompatible for whatever reason.
I am uploading pics of the scooter I'm buying tomorrow. Other than it being listed as a Viza 33cc I have no idea as to what its actual model number is so I'd like that info too if someone can tell me that.
Also any links to websites that sell stock OEM parts and or aftermarket performance ones (by that I mean ACTUAL performance parts not those found on places like eBay or Amazon that say the products are PERFORMANCE ones but end up being stock parts that have been painted metallic reds and blues on certain parts of them or use red insulation on the wiring and look the part but are not performance parts of high end at all. Even worse are the ones sold as high end performance parts that are substandard quality and performance. Don't get me wrong I am ok with eBay and Amazon if the links are to reputable sellers who aren't a hair's breath away from a fraud charge with the way they do business.
Thanks for your help in advance...
OK, I see that uploading images can be a bit tricky so I will make a folder on Google photos with the images in it if I can't make it work after reading the instructions I saw in the forum list....

So I think I got it down this time, it's been a few tries. I had to "insert image" while Using BBCode view. Then Switch back to preview and delete all the normal text in white while leaving the blue hyperlinks intact. Then back into BBCode view and change the text that was [IMG.txt] something or other to what you see now. I read the tutorial on how to insert an image and the literal steps were different than what is in the tutorial. And neither forum or alt forum style links that it created worked as promised. I mean what I got was a long way around to creating a regular old URL hyperlink with custom text instead of the URL. AAAnywho.... movin on. The links below should take you to the images on image shack I uploaded them too. Now I'm going to try just attaching a file the drag and drop way and drop each picture one by one. If that works I'll be dammned if I erase all the hard work I did to create those hyperlinks. Viza33cc 1"Viza33cc 2"Viza33cc 3"OHHHHHHHHH you **@#$^ PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY REMOVE THAT TUTORIAL THAT IS PINNED IT DOESN'T WORK AS PROMISED. AND ALL YOU NEED DO IS TAP THE "ADD ATTACHMENT" BUTTON THAT IS AT TOP RIGHT THEN NAV TO YOUR PICS AND TAP ISNERT ON EACH OF THEM ONCE THEY UPLOAD...................

So I picked up the scooter yesterday and I only had 10mins before the return ferry left for Salt Spring Island (my home) to go over the scoot before I bought it or not. It started from cold on the third pull. Which the manual that came with it said it should do. Oh it's a Viza Viper 33cc that I bought.
Anyway they brought it almost empty and for good reason because after I got home with it and went to the gas station and filled it up it was leaking fuel from the tank. They obviously intended to leave out the part that the tank had a crack along the top and that you can only put just under half a tank to stop it from spilling fuel along the road as you go. I did also notice that the head set nuts weren't tightened up to lock them together and that it was loose enough to be a problem. Whether or not it's been like that for long enough to groove out the bearing races or not I'll know tomorrow when I take it apart and re-seat the balls in grease etc...
The carb also looks like it could use a rebuild and cleaning if the outside dirt and grease build up is an indication. It can't take WOT (wide open throttle) on any type of a hill of length that causes the bike to slow down. If you keep it WOT it eventually drowns the engine and it won't start again until you've let the excessive gas evaporate from the cylinder. To get up a hill then can only be done by reducing the throttle incrementally until you can tell it isn't flooding the engine anymore and if it is a steep hill which Fulford-Ganges coming out of town is you also have to leg it a bit to help the poor thing out. Or dismount and walk it up the steep part while feathering the throttle to let it pull itself up the steep bit. I hope that stripping the carb down and cleaning everything in gas will help to solve the flooding issue while going up any steep incline. I'll also wash the air filter and dip it in fresh oil again which should also help it along. I doubt the previous owners did anything at all like that while they owned it other than run it dry when storing it over the winter. Or they would have had to rebuild the carb already and it wouldn't be as dirty as it is.
I will also adjust the clutch pads and check to see if they need replacing as well while I have it apart.
As for the cracked tank I am going to file the crack a bit wider so that the gas tank epoxy putty has something to bite into so it stays put. It's a very thin split and along the top seam. I could probably drain and dry the tank out completely then use a soldering iron to melt the crack shut but it'll be faster to epoxy it. I will also be ordering a new tank and am thinking on going with a metal tank as a plastic one for something like this seems like a bad idea even when the tank is new and not old and brittle enough to shatter like glass if it takes a good knock. At the very least I am going to construct a cage for the tank from aluminum to protect it from impacts. It did have new fuel lines.
They told me it was about 5yrs old but I question that as the manual is from 1998. Is there a date code on the engine anywhere? Do they still make Viper's? If not when did they stop making that model?
I will continue to update my progress with Gerald (I name all my scooters) and provide photos of what I am doing. I'm also going to upload photos of the user manual that I got with it as they are probably rare things. It's not very long but it does have some good info especially the maintenance schedule for taking care of various components of the bike that need it. I'm currently looking for an extended one a mechanics shop manual that a Viza mechanic would have access to. As it tells the user to send it in to Viza if something is wrong with the gear box for instance. That being said it does have a complete exploded diagram of the bike in the back. I've never been very good at making any use of such diagrams but I am sure there are people out there that can use them better than the step by steps for taking stuff to bits. Personally I can take something apart and put it back together again even a year later, which I did with a 4 barrel carb for a ford v8 once that I had to wait for the owner of it to finally get around to ordering the kit for it. I took it apart thinking he had it already.
Anyway movin on toodles poodles
(Yes you did read that last line correctly and no I have no shame)

Quick update. just became aware that these scooters discontinued years ago. Not a chance it's 5yrs old, I thought it looked older. Anyway, this also means parts are beyond hard to come by OEM anyway. As to how easy it is to find other branded parts that work with or without tinkering I guess I will find that out. I will also be covering the existing tank in a few layers of UV blocking paint to stop further sun damage to the plastic that isn't cracked yet.
